is feeling much better today. Thank you all for your well wishing. He's still a bit nauseous, but the fever is gone. He was dizzy earlier but I'm sure that's from lack of food. This morning he ate two pieces of dry toast. Then he actually got dressed and we ventured out to the library to return his two books. (They were due yesterday. Oops.) Then we stopped at Shaw's because he wants food now but we don't have much for bland food in the house. We got more jello and some bananas. And he ate a jelly sandwich for lunch. He's not 100% yet, but much better than yesterday.

Oh, yeah. And I should probably mention that the most likely reason I was suddenly overcome with the need to pierce my ears is that I've had earrings on the brain lately, because I've been making them. I'm excited about them. They are so much prettier in person than I can capture in a picture.

The ironic part is that I can't wear any of them, myself. Even now that I actually have pierced ears. As I'd said before, my ears were pierced previously. But they are apparently very sensitive and for years they just got infected again and again, no matter what kind of earring I wore. So I eventually let them close up. BUT, now that I am, again, in a pierced state of being, I've ordered some nickel-free, hypoallergenic findings, and plan on making some smashing earrings for myself. I really hope they work. I can't wait for the findings to arrive so I can get started. And I can't wait for my ears to heal so I can wear them!

My poor sweetie

Jake woke me up at about 8:30 this morning, to say that his stomach felt weird. Within 5 minutes, he was upchucking in the kitchen sink (I know...not my first choice, but it was the closest thing, and sometimes ya just gotta go with the flow.) Yep. Stomach flu. He's spent the day being bored and very nauseous and feverish and just plain ol' icky. We watched a lot of episodes of Titus and then he watched me play Zelda (I beat the Big Bad and finished the game). He took a huge nap from 3-6pm. Woke up with the fever back, so I gave him more Tylenol. He ate a little jello, then was a little afraid it might have been a bad idea. But then he had a little toast. Then a bit later a little more jello, and now more toast. Poor thing's really hungry but neither of us think it's a good idea to load his little belly up with too much food right now. But he does seem to be a little better than earlier. *knock on wood*

Some school vacation this is turning out to be.

Yesterday I suddenly decided that I HAD to get my ears pierced. As soon as possible. They'd been pierced when I was young, but they closed up long, long ago. The only place I could think to go to was Claire's. Not that there's anything wrong with Claire's, but I don't believe I'm exactly their usual clientele. So this morning, off we went to Claire's. The young lady there did a fine job. And it only hurt for an instant. And Jake feels he has even more reason, now, to believe that I'm completely off my rocker.

My shiney new earrings!
But don't they make my earlobes look fat?

The cute bag my care kit came in.
I feel like I'm 12.
I even got stickers.
And, in other news, Blogger finally got the best of me. I went to sign on, and it first teased me by giving the option to sign in with new or old blogger, but after I signed in with the old, I was taken to a screen that laughed at me endlessly, until I agreed to sign up for New Blogger. After I surrendered, it promised that it would move my blogs over in just a few minutes. Then it suddenly changed it's mind and decided that it needed more time, and it would email me when it was finally ready to let me back in. After laughing at me for a few hours, it finally did. Whoopie.

Wicked Pissa

Unless you're from here, you all probably won't appreciate this like I did, but I just spent the morning perusing The Wicked Good Guide to Boston English.

There are even region- and town-specific terms from my own hometown. It's a friggin riot. And oh-so-true!

Look what I just received!

A 2007 Fold-a-Day Origami Calendar!

It's a (very late) Christmas gift from my friend Marlene at work. Apparently she'd had to do some seriously quick tidying before Christmas and then couldn't find where she'd tucked this away. Today is her last day*, so she made the effort to find it for me before she was gone. I yuv it. I can now go origami crazy to make up for that month and a half that I'm behind. But something tells me my boss won't like that! (I can't fold paper and type at the same time.) I am absolutely delighted by it.

*In much sadder news, today is Marlene's last day. Not by her choice. She started here two Novembers ago, right after me. But she's still a temp. And now we're back into our 'slow' season, and they just can't keep her. She can get another assignment from the temp agency, so she'll have work. But we all love her here and are so sad to see her go. And she is too. She doesn't know it yet, but we've all got little presents and goodies and a card and stuff to suprise her with. Party should be commencing in about 20 minutes.

Today Jake and I went to the New England Aquarium in Boston. Did I ever mention that I don't drive in Boston? But dude...they were having a special penguin exhibit. So I mustered up my courage and off we went!

African Penguins. See the kissy-faces?

Like cats, peguins like to assume the 'meatloaf position'.

Jake gets to touch a starfish.

More jellies!

Hey, how'd that Rockhopper get over there with the African penguins?

Little Blue penguins, aka Fairy Penguins!

Again, in the meatloaf position.

All along the way, we stopped to get our penguin passports stamped.

Then we stopped at the IMAX 3-D theater for a movie about lions.

Then off to the giftshop. What did I get? Why, a coffee mug, of course!

And a little friend for the office.

And a fairy penguin.

Jake got a shark's tooth.
(Lest you start to think: "No fairsies! The poor kid
only got one thing, and mom got a bunch?!"
Let me just tell you that this ONE shark's tooth cost
more than all of my stuff combined!)

And I also got this sweet little charm.

And, as is our custom wherever we go, we squashed some pennies.
See the Lincoln Memorial across the penguins? Neat.

We had ourselves a very good time, and I even got us home safe and sound. Woo hoo!

I'm a coffee-mug whore

So, I was completely unable to resist when bettiepie announced her Zazzle store last week.

I am lucky that she only offers two mugs, as I was compelled to get them both, and I fear what might have happened if she offered more. Actually, I was the one to request the second style, so it's entirely my fault, anyway.

Anyhoo, they've arrived and they're quite neat. I'm rather excited. I know probably not everyone gets excited about coffee mugs; but, well, it's the little things that make me happy. Hey! A picture:

In other news, I'm also a Valentine Whore, and I've added a virtual valentine thingy to my sidebar. Please click on it to send me a Valentine! ------------------->

(I stole that from bettie. But I didn't really want to mention that because it's starting to seem like I'm stalking her or something andmaybe it's getting to be a bit creepy on my part.)

I need this in Captain dummy-talk, please feeds. Who uses them? Who's blog is set up to be read by them (and what is that called)?

What one should I use?

Which Buffy Character Are You?

My score on The 4-Variable Buffy Personality Test:

Willow Rosenberg
(45% amorality, 72% passion, 63% spirituality, 36% selflessness)

Likely you're stronger on the inside than most people would give you credit for: like Willow, you're a decent person with both passions and a spiritual side, sometimes struggling for control.

Willow is one of the most beloved characters in the Buffy universe;

I have a tendency to ignore perfectly good TV shows until they are either ended, or close to it. My latest example is Everwood. It never interested me and I never, ever watched it. I was actually happy when it was cancelled, because it meant that 7th Heaven would be brought back for another year (the CW merged UPN and the WB, and in keeping and tossing different shows, they literally came down to a choice of having room to keep either Everwood or 7th Heaven.) Of course, 7th Heaven is kind of crappy this year, so it may have been better off dead. Anyway, I digress. Last fall ABC Family started playing Everwood, and I totally fell in love with it. I mourned all the lost years that I never watched it. I kicked myself for being glad it had been cancelled. And I've watched, faithfully, the entire series. Tonight and Monday will be the series finale. Usually, when a network gets to the end of a show, they'll just start again from the beginning. I just checked ABC Family's schedule, and they're...not...playing it again. Starting Tuesday, it will be 7th Heaven. :(

Now I'm very sad.

So...the new version of Blogger

I am far too tired to research this. I am hoping that some of you loverlies out there in Blogger-land who have made the change can help provide me with some info about this. Such as:

Do I want to switch over? Will I be made to switch over? Why is it better? How is it not as good?

In a nutshell: do I want this, and why or why not?

Thanks muchly for any input.
