The cover art for the upcoming Serenity: Better Days comic has been released. It's awesome. I particularly like that River is using the money for origami. And it appears she's made an origami Serenity.

I TOTALLY want that pattern.

Scene from work: (probably TMI)

I got my period yesterday at work. It was early. I was cranky. I grabbed a tampon from my drawer to head over to the ladies' room, but first I stopped at Lori's desk (in my cube), discretely held the tampon up to her in a threatening manner, and growled in a very accusatory tone, "I blame you!", simply because she got hers early, too, so I'll blame her. Louise, sitting next to Lori, asked what was going on.

Lou: "I feel like you're doing something behind my back!"

Me: "Yes, Lou. We're all menstruating behind your back."

Lou: "Oh."

My coffee maker broke

I'm surprised at how much I'm panicking. Maybe it's because I haven't had my coffee yet.

I only make it at home on the weekends. I don't have time on work mornings so I just grab some when I get to work. Which means I only have to get through today - and I've already got a solution in the works - then I have plenty of time to plan what/when/how/where I can go get a new one.

But I'm really freaking out. I want my coffeemaker. I don't want a new one. A new one will be...different. I want mine!

And also, my DVD player somehow got switched to dubbing in French. Jayne just sang "The Hero of Canton" in French. lol

Because the URL won't fit in a comment

In response to Bradi:

Buffyguide, the Cafepress store! (C'mon...I can't be the only one who knew about this?)

I also have this and this. All the cool kids have them.

And Spicy Ginger Turkey:

2 lb ground turkey
1 can mushrooms (4g)
1/8 C red bell pepper (2g)
1/8 C onion (3g)
2 stalks celery (2.5g)
1 C chicken broth
2 T soy sauce (2g)
1 T rice wine vinegar
2 t fresh ginger (0.5g)
1 t fresh garlic (0.5g)
cayenne pepper to taste

Brown turkey and drain. Saute vegetables. Add turkey back to pan. Add garlic and ginger. Stir and heat all well. Mix chicken broth with remaining ingredients. (If you can have corn starch, I would recommend stirring about a teaspoon or two of it into the broth mixture before adding it to the pan.) Add to pan, stir until boiling. Maybe simmer for a few minutes.

Makes a gianormous batch, you can eat if for days. 14.5 carbs total

Disclaimer: This is my own concoction. I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the carb counts, and you should be aware that I very rarely measure anything, so I doubt any of the amounts are exactly, exactly accurate. And if you're not specifically watching carbs, you can certainly add more veggies!

Now I want this!

12 of 12 - February

6:49 am [/obvious]
This is what time I woke up today. Unfortunately, it's what time I'm supposed to leave the house. Oops.

6:52 am
When I get out of bed in the morning, the cat runs out to the living room, meowing and begging me to pat her. Then she falls over and rolls around. I know. Sane, huh?

7:00 am
Ok. I was making The Boy's sandwich, and I couldn't find the twist tie for the bread bag. This is where I found it. Did I mention I'm not good in the mornings?

7:18 am
Moms of little boys, rejoice: some day your son will take out the trash, too!

7:18 am
Does this look familiar to anyone?

7:19 am
Running SOOOOO late.

7:35 am
I've just dropped The Boy off at school. This is the wall of buses I drive by every morning.

7:45 am
Red light.

Then I went to work. I have no pictures of my workday. As we work with people's personal information, cameras are strictly forbidden at work. There's no rule against them in the lobby, cafeteria, and the hallways outside of our offices, but I feel a bit self-conscious snapping random pictures around a bunch of strangers. Perhaps I'll work up to it later in the year. Anyway, let's use our imagination for a minute:

8:15 am
Pretend this is a picture of me, in the kitchen at work, getting my first cup of coffee of the day.

4:45 pm
Time to go home! This is the building where I work.

5:25 pm
Dinner. It was leftover, but it was yummy. Ground turkey with cauliflower, green pepper, mushrooms and celery, in a sauce made of chicken broth, fresh ginger, garlic, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and cayenne pepper.

A while back, my pants were too long, so I took them up. Then they were too loose, so I took them in. That made them too short. So I'm taking them back down. 3 pair.

9:30 pm
And again, "Come to bed, Mommy. Now."

Send help!

The house is being overrun by three pre-teen boys. I have given them pizza and fries. And cheesy breadsticks. And soda. I've attempted to distract them with Firefly DVDs and several PS2 and PS3 games. Still they roam, restless. I am, for the most part, trapped in my bedroom. I've snuck out briefly to enter this distress call. If someone finds this...please send help.

Shhhhhh....they're coming!
