The Boy's feet have been hurting him, and that usually means he needs new sneakers, either because the ones he has are too small, or not supportive enough. He insists the 10 1/2 fits, but I'm not convinced. I traced his feet tonight, with the idea that I can cut out his paper feet and put them in those sizing things at the shoe store to confirm his size. And once I traced them, the massiveness that is his feet became very apparent. So much so, that he asked me if I had his baby footprints, so we could compare them.
Here they are. Remember, he's only 12 years old.
We could barely fit each foot on a standard sheet of 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper; I had him stand corner to corner. Then I cut them out and scanned them, and also scanned the baby footprints, then put them all together for the above picture. Each cut-out foot barely fit on the bed of the scanner. To keep everything to scale, I also scanned a ruler with each of them, and matched them all up for the composite picture. On the ruler, the 1" and 11" are marked (because the 0 and 12 are not in the picture).
His feet are nearly as large as his father's. They are bigger than my father's. And he's still only 5'4" tall.
I really hopes he grows into them!

Golly.
I had a boyfriend, Martin, who is 6' 4". He told me that his feet grew first, and that his height only started growing to match them a year or so later. I think it makes sense, otherwise you'd fall over with your tall body and tiny feet, right?
Now, question is, are you prepared for a 6' 4" son?
Those are big'uns!
OHMYGOD, that is the cutest picture ever!!
