You know that old trick where you use steam from a teakettle to open a sealed envelope, so that it's not damaged and you can glue it closed again and no one will know you opened it?
It really works.

Blogger's Choice Award
I was ever so pleasantly suprised to learn I've been nominated for the Hottest Mommy award at the Blogger's Choice Awards. Imagine that!
And I have, in turn, nominated the lovely Meghan, for Hottest Mommy and Best Photography Blog.
I think The Blogger's Choice Awards is a grand idea. Everyone should go there. Nominate someone. Nominate several someones! Vote now, vote often.

Jacob and the Chocolate Factory
Today Jacob took off on a road trip with his Dad. They are headed first to Pennsylvania to see the sights, including the Liberty Bell and Amish country. Then they will head down to tour Washington DC and the Smithsonian. (The thought of those two in a museum, especially the Smithonian, makes me shudder. As much as that boy is like me in a lot of ways, he's like his dad in many ways, too. I just know that they will spend hour upon hour reading every little plaque, studying every minute detail. I may never see them again. I'm happy they have this time together, but I am SO glad I am not with them.)
Anyhoo, today's stop was Hershey, PA. I already got pictures via email.
Well, I kind of wish I was there for THIS part. ;)

M-O-O-N spells chicken
A cookie to the first person who knows what the title refers to.
Yesterday, boneless chicken breasts were on sale at Stop&Shop for $1.69 per lb. Excellent price, and this Atkin's girl was just about out of chicken, so I bought about 18 lbs. (I saved over $40.00!) I eat a salad with grilled chicken every day for lunch, and of course chicken can be used to make one million and one yummy low-carb suppers, so it's a big staple for me.
Now I have to trim it all up, grill most if it on my handy-dandy George Forman grill, and freeze it all. I suspect it is going to take me the greater portion of the night.
Note that I already broke into the first pack last night to whip up some buffalo fingers.
I'll keep you updated.
5:30:
6:35:
Grilling completed! Now I just have to finish slicing it all, and portion it off into tiny little ziplock snackbags. And clean the grill. I don't think I've ever seen such a big bowl of chicken.
I'm getting a little tired.
7:15:
Finished! I ended up with three gallon-freezer-bags full of little bags of cut-up grilled chicken; eight more raw breasts in four bags in the freezer, and six raw pork chops in three bags. I will have some food for a while. I was going to make up the salads for the week, too, but I think that will wait until tomorrow.
I've even washed all my bowls, cutting boards, knives, and the grill!
And in plenty of time to rest before Drive starts.

Most of the cutting is done, and grilling is in process:
6:00:
The remainder of the chicken is trimmed, portioned off, and put in the freezer, along with about 3 lbs of center cut pork chops that were also on sale. And I took the trash out.
Grilling still in progress.
6:15:
Grilling nearly done. Only two batches to go.
Time to start chopping and bagging.
